Iran`s “Bitter Dream” director Amiryusefi hospitalized

TEHRAN,May 23(MNA) – Mohsen Amiryusefi, director of Cannes Golden Camera winner “Bitter Dream”, has been hospitalized in a Tehran hospital because of an occlusion in the blood vessels of the brain. The 40-year old director was admitted to the hospital on Saturday when he experienced a severe headache; his wife told on Tuesday, adding that doctors expect him to make a full recovery. She described his condition as satisfactory, but she said that he needs to spend the next few days in ICU. Born in Abadan, Amiryusefi is a graduate of mathematics from the University of Isfahan. He has made several short films and documentaries, but he made his debut feature with the international award-winning film “Bitter Dream” when he was 32. “Bitter Dream” centers on a cemetery body-washer who begins to sense that the end of his life is drawing near. Amiryusefi has received several international awards for his “Bitter Dream” including “Golden Camera” (Caméra d’Or) from Cannes Film Festival in 2004, “Golden Alexander” from the 45th Thessaloniki Festival in 2004, and “Special Jury Prize” from Argentina’s 20th Mar del Plata Festival in 2005. His other credit is “Fire Keeper”, a film which tells the story of a man faced with the dilemma of choosing between his wife’s health and his desire to have a son.
