Iran`s Fajr festival to review NAM cinema
TEHRAN,Dec.23(MNA) -- The cinema of the Non-Aligned Movement member countries is scheduled to be reviewed during the 31st Fajr International Film Festival.
A collection of movies by filmmakers from NAM member states will be screened in a special section, secretary Mohhammadreza Abbasian said in a press released on Friday.
Sixty-one films from 26 countries including Algeria, Azerbaijan, Chile, Indonesia, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Nepal, Vietnam, Malaysia and Kenya have been submitted to the festival, he added.
“This section was added to the festival due to Iran’s presidency over NAM for the next three years,” Abbasian stated.
Filmmakers from 72 countries have applied to participate in the international competition section of the festival.
The festival also plans to hold a meeting to discuss the establishment of a NAM filmmakers’ union.
The 31st edition of the Fajr International Film Festival, Iran’s most important cinematic event, will be held from January 31 to February 10.
