Iran`s Kambiz Derambakhsh to display cartoons on London Olympics in October

TEHRAN,Aug.30(MNA) -- Kambiz Derambakhsh will be displaying his cartoons on the London 2012 Olympic Games in an exhibition opening on October 12 at Tehran’s Seyhun Gallery. “I have chosen a collection of 40 works for the show, all of which will be displayed for the first time”, he told on Wednesday. A group of artists and cartoonists are expected to attend the opening ceremony of the exhibit, which will be running for two weeks at the gallery located at 30 Fourth Alley, off Vozara St. “When I left the hospital, I did not like to sit idle at home doing nothing so I began to draw cartoons on sports and the Olympic Games,” he said. Derambaskh is suffering from colon cancer and has undergone chemotherapy over the past few months. The French publishing company Michel Lafon Publishing, one of the leading independent publishers in Paris, plans to print a selection of Derambakhsh cartoons created over the past 35 years in a book that will be published in January 2013.
