Ironman Organisation Representatives Arrive in Bahrain to Oversee Preparation Efforts

Manama, Dec. 4 (BNA): Representatives from the International Ironman Organisation arrived in the Kingdom of Bahrain to oversee the ongoing preparations for the IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship, scheduled to happen on December 10 under the patronage of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister. Amal Al Murbati, member of the Organising Committee and board member of Bahrain Events Company, affirmed that the representatives sent by the Ironman Organisation have been tasked to ensure that the event meets international standards and that the Organising Committee members are prepared to hold it. "The Organising Committee members have established direct links with all the participants, from inside and outside Bahrain, who confirmed their participation in the event, by sending them short messages to update them about the developments pertaining the Championship. We have been very keen to be close to all the participants to help clear things up. This has been met with positive feedbacks from the contestants," Ms. Al-Murbati said, revealing that event will be filled with entertaining activities. The Championship will be supported by other two events, including IRONKIDS and IronGirl, and Ms. Al Murbati said that the main aim of holding them is to highlight the importance of practicing sports to children and girls, with the main focus on the health side of it. "We have invited two-time world champion Daniela Ryf to attend and cheer the participants in the IronGirl as we are keen to see a large pool of participants taking part and encourage women to practice this type of sports," she added. The event will also serve as a platform to raise awareness on the rich Bahraini traditions and cultures to those from outside the country who will be present in the event. And according to Ms. Al Murbati, the Organising Committee coordinated with the Tourism Authourity to showcase some aspects of the Bahraini traditions at the Bahrain International Circuit. It's worth noting that the Organising Committee will be launching an expo on the sidelines of the event featuring triathlon equipment used in the Ironman championships on December 8. The expo represents an opportunity to acquire the tools considered to be one of the main parts of this sport. With a large expectation of attracting many triathlon enthusiasts, the expo will be held throughout the championship at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir. On the same day also, IRONKIDS and IronGirl events will be held at 6:00pm and 7:00pm respectively at the Bahrain International Circuit. The first day will conclude with the opening ceremony of the event and a race briefing meet. The expo will continue on the second day, while a swim practice will take place at 7:30am near Four Seasons, followed by the bike check-in between 10:00am and 5:00pm. On the last day of the championship, the transition will open at 5:30am, and it will close at 6:45am. The race Championship at 7:00am with the closing ceremony and the award distribution event will be held at a later stage on the same day.
