TEHRAN,May 13(MNA) -- Istanbul will be hosting an international symposium, which is planned to study the literary connections between the Persian and Turkish languages this week.
The three-day symposium will open at the Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall on Tuesday, Muhammed Nur Dogan of Istanbul University told on Friday.
A group of Iranian and Turkish literati are invited to the symposium, he said, adding that several other scholars are coming from China, India, Bangladesh, Tajikistan, and Azerbaijan.
The two countries enjoy cultural and historical commonalities and the languages of both countries are filled with words and phrases borrowed from one another, he added.
Relations between Persian and Turkish languages during the Ottoman Empire, review of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, and the management of schools and social relations during the Seljuk era are among the topics to be discussed.
The symposium is cosponsored by Iran’s Allameh Tabatabaii University and Istanbul University.
