Italian painter depicts oppression of Palestinians

TEHRAN,Aug.15(MNA) -- A collection by the Italian artist Roberto Cozzolino, which explores the oppressed Palestinians’ resistance against the Zionist regime, was put on display in an exhibition at Tehran’s Andisheh Gallery on Monday. The exhibit has been organized by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and the Iranian Cultural Attaché’s Office in Rome. “I began to work on Palestine almost two years ago. Afterwards, I tried to communicate with those parties who support the oppressed people of Palestine to help me display my paintings but failed to accomplish that,” Cozzolino told on Tuesday. “Later I got to know Iranian Cultural Attaché’s Office in Rome, which helped me display my works here in Tehran,” he added. He continued that in Western countries, especially in his country Italy, people are provided with untrue information about Palestinian people, “but I have tried to depict the true image of the country.” The artist also explained that he has been interested in politics since his childhood and this is his first collection on political issues. His previous works center on nature and landscapes. Cozzolino said that he only centers on the issues, which seem to be interesting for him, and that he might work on politics in his next projects. He said that his exhibit might have some slight effect on the current situation of the Palestinian people. However, it might help raise public awareness about the oppression of the Palestinians. The exhibit will be running until August 18 at the gallery located in Andisheh Park on Shariati Ave.
