Izmir city hosts 1.1 million tourists in nine months

IZMIR (A.A) - October 31, 2011 - Turkey's western resort city of Izmir hosted 1.1 million tourists in the first nine months of 2011. According to figures of Culture & Tourism Ministry, Izmir increased the number of tourists it hosted every year regularly. With the nine-month figures, the city almost caught the number of tourists it hosted in the whole 2010. A total of 1,153,295 tourists visited Izmir in the first nine months of 2011, while this figure had been 1,155,000 in the whole 2010. Mostly German, Italian, French and British tourists prefer to visit Izmir, according to the figures of the ministry.
