Jeenbekov discusses with head of IBC measures to support entrepreneurship

Bishkek, May 22, 2020 / Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Executive Director of the International Business Council (IBC), Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Industry and Entrepreneurship Development at the National Council for Sustainable Development of the Kyrgyz Republic Askar Sydykov.
The course of implementation of the decisions of the Committee on the Development of Industry and Entrepreneurship, measures to support entrepreneurship in the current situation, and the role of business in the post-crisis period were discussed, the Kyrgyz President’s press service reported.
The head of state once again noted that in all state strategic documents, support for entrepreneurship and the creation of favorable conditions for business are reflected as the main directions.
He added that along with the ongoing work to improve the conditions for doing business and increase the investment attractiveness of the country, a number of systemic problems remain.
In this regard, Jeenbekov emphasized the importance of strengthening a constructive dialogue between government agencies and business.
The IBC executive director noted that during the existence of the Committee for the Development of Industry and Entrepreneurship, there have been a number of positive results - the Industry Development Strategy has been adopted, incentives for light industry have been created, and a Government decree will soon be canceled, which encouraged law enforcement agencies to impose additional payments on entrepreneurs and others.
He emphasized that in less than a year a total of 152 proposals had been worked out to develop priority sectors of the economy and solve problematic issues for entrepreneurs.
Askar Sydykov also noted that the creation of a special department for working with entrepreneurs in the structure of the General Prosecutor’s Office found positive feedback from representatives of business structures.
Along with this, he added that a number of decisions of the Committee have not yet been fully implemented.
In this regard, the executive director of the International Business Council expressed the view that it is necessary to implement reforms in the regulation of the economy.
Askar Sydykov also noted that despite the current crisis in the domestic economy, there are many opportunities to attract investment in agriculture, energy, mining, etc.
The Committee on Industry and Enterprise Development under the National Council on Sustainable Development of the Kyrgyz Republic was established by decree of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov in December 2018. It is intended to become a dialogue platform between the state and business to solve the most pressing problems of entrepreneurship.
The head of the Committee is the head of state, the deputies are Executive Director of the International Business Council Askar Sydykov and Vice Prime Minister Erkin Asrandiev.
The Committee includes deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, heads of state bodies, representatives of business structures and associations.
