Jeenbekov meets with head of Russian medical group arrived to help fight COVID-19

Bishkek, July 24, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, July 24 President Sooronbay Jeenbekov met with Yevgeny Kustov, the Deputy Health Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan and head of a Russian medical team that has arrived in Kyrgyzstan. According to the Kyrgyz President’s press service, the meeting was also attended by Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nikolay Udovichenko and Deputy Director of the Institute of Virology of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) Natalia Pshenichnaya. A group of Russian doctors arrived in the country on July 23 as part of humanitarian aid to Kyrgyzstan. Jeenbekov thanked the Russian specialists for coming to assist in a difficult time for the country. He expressed gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin for weighty support in the fight against the disease. Russian Ambassador Udovichenko noted that in accordance with an agreement of the two leaders, Russia continues to provide assistance to Kyrgyzstan in the fight against coronavirus infection. Earlier, a group of Russian military doctors had already arrived in the country. He added humanitarian aid in the form of medicines and medical products worth a total of RUB 150 million is expected to arrive. Bashkortostan’s Deputy Health Minister Yevgeny Kustov said a plan of joint action has been developed jointly with the Kyrgyz Health Ministry. He expressed confidence that specialists from the two countries would work together to combat the disease outbreak in Kyrgyzstan. According to Deputy Director of the Rospotrebnadzor Institute of Virology Natalia Pshenichnaya, Russian specialists will provide methodological and practical assistance to Kyrgyz doctors, as well as advisory support to medical institutions. During the meeting, it was noted that a group of Russian specialists is distributed among medical institutions in the regions of Kyrgyzstan.
