Jubilee of Abdilda Tazhibayev
Almaty, November 17, 2009 (Khabar) - Kazakhstan celebrates centenary anniversary of legendary poet and playwright Abdilda Tazhibayev. A book exhibition dedicated to his creative activity and a presentation of a new stamp with his portrait have been held in Almaty. Abdilda Tazhibayev is referred to as the people’s poet by his followers, friends and family. He wrote about everything he cared about - the past, present and the future, war and peace, children and young people and his native land. The future poet was born in 1909 in Kyzylorda and he published his first poems when he was 19 years of age. The collection of his works called “A New Rhythm” was released in 1933. At that time, he was referred to as a person with a natural gift who would surprise and win the hearts of readers in the future. However, his talent manifested itself not only in poetry, as today he is known to most people as a writer, playwright, translator, politician and teacher.
Kadyr Myrza-Ali, poet:
- He was a teacher in all areas, such as poetry and art, as well as a person. We respected him and were afraid of him a little because he had such great authority which was incomparable to us. However, he helped us a lot by giving us good directions.
The poet lives on in his works and the memories of his friends and readers. A new postage stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Abdilda Tazhibayev’s birth has already appeared with a limited edition print run amounting to 30,000 copies.
