Justice Minister issues edict

Manama, Oct. 20 (BNA): Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa hailed the edict issued by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa to regulate the technical requirements for sending, receiving and updating electronic records and signatures of public bodies. He described the electronic declaration as an essential development and a quality leap in the litigation procedural system. The move, he added, is part of the technological transformation initiatives aimed at boosting effectiveness and speed in processing cases. He also pointed out that electronic notification will include all forms of judicial declarations. In this context, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister issued edict 89/2018 approving email and SMS to declare judicial papers in civil, commercial and criminal cases. The Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry Undersecretary for Justice Affairs shall enforce the edict which shall become effective one month after its promulgation in the Official Gazette.
