Justice Minister opens judicial roundtable on courts computing

Manama, Oct. 17 (BNA): Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdullah Al Khalifa opened the judicial roundtable on computing and court specialties which is held at the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute under the sponsorship of the Supreme Judicial Council, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry and the US Department of Commerce's Commercial Law Development Programme (CLDP). Five Arab countries and experts from Dubai and the US Department of Commerce are taking part in the event. The Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister welcomed the audience, stressing that the meeting was an opportunity for all to set up a constructive dialogue to exchange experience and visions on courts computing and specialties. He underlined the importance of the subject, pointing out Bahrain's keenness on constructive cooperation between the Supreme Judicial Council and the Ministry of Justice to develop the judiciary. He affirmed ability of the judicial branch to achieve institutional independence through the Supreme Judicial Council which takes charge of all judicial affairs. He also pointed out the strategy extending to 2020 which was launched by the Supreme Judicial Council and will be implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments. Shaikh Khalid also underscored the importance of computing procedures, specialised courts and management of lawsuits in judicial development, pointing out Bahrain's steps in this respect to boost the courts' effectiveness in handling cases. He stressed that success of any development in the judicial system emanates from a strong conviction of the significance of development and modernisation to change the concepts of conventional work among all relevant parties.
