Justice Undersecretary slams Bahraini Ulama's statements

Manama, Jan. 30 (BNA): Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Undersecretary Dr. Fareed Al-Miftah stressed that the statements issued by so-called Bahraini Ulama (clerics), broadcasted by Iranian media, are inconsistent with the national course and of no value. The Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs called on those who collect Islamic religious resources, including Khums, Zakat, alms or donations for religious purposes, to verify the legitimacy and source of the funds, as well as ways of spending it according to the law. They may not interfere in the means of spending it or determining its spending priorities, which is the government's responsibility to verify its legitimacy in accordance with the rule of law, transparency, openness and preserving the legitimate charity funds and not to exploit it in supporting illegal acts that are contrary to the Islamic Sharia. He lauded the role of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in uniting Bahraini clerics and reflects their historic role in disseminating the Islamic awareness and bolstering national unity and gains.
