Katara Publishes 3rd Edition of 'Culture' Quarterly Magazine

Doha, April 11 (QNA) - Katara Publishing House issued the third edition of the quarterly magazine "Culture" which is issued every three months in the English language.
The issue of the first quarter of this year included cultural, heritage, and artistic topics, in addition to the country's tourist attractions, and the most prominent events that were held during the past three months.
Among topics of a heritage nature, the issue dealt with Arabic coffee, the method of making it and how to present it, as well as the traditions of Ramadan in Qatar, what has been updated nowadays, and what the society has preserved from its ancient heritage.
The issue also included an interesting topic about the heritage of falconry, by addressing the role of Souq Waqif Falcon Hospital in caring for these types of birds.
The magazine also shed light on the role of Al-Jasra Club as one of the oldest sources of cultural radiation in Qatar. It also dealt with the Doha Book Fair in its thirty-first edition and its contributions to making reading a societal habit in Qatar and to the emergence of creative people in various fields of writing, especially creative literary writing.
On the artistic side, the third issue of "Culture" dealt with the experience of Khalifa Al-Marri, the promising director, and the echoes of his film "Alayan", in addition to the magazine's discussion of a number of art exhibitions.
With regard to events and initiatives, the issue dealt with the activities of the second edition of the Katara Arabian Horse Festival. It also touched on sustainability initiatives in Qatar Foundation, such as a day without cars, and in the area of Qatar landmarks, the magazine singled out the most prominent parks that can be visited in Qatar.
In the space designated for interviews, the magazine conducted an interview with sports journalist Khaled Jassim, during which he talked about his program "The Majlis", which combines Qatari and Arab heritage and culture. It also conducted an interview with the novelist Dr. Ahmed Abdul Malik, in which he talked about his recent writings and many issues related to culture and literature.
The magazine's Editor-in-Chief Khaled Abdel Rahim addressed the continuation of Culture magazine's role in spreading Arab culture and reflecting the Qatari heritage. He also touched on Katara's role as one of the most prominent cultural institutions in Qatar through its many and varied activities, as well as the holy month of Ramadan and its religious implications.
In her opening article Executive Editor of the magazine Sheikha Shaikha Hamad Al-Thani touched on the magazines ambitions to build bridges that lead to a lifelong cultural understanding, stressing that "Culture" has the most prominent role in shedding light on cultural activities in Qatar, which in turn helps readers to understand our culture and heritage.''(QNA)
