Kazakh soldiers in Hungary

Budapest, July 30, 2009 (Khabar) - Less than a year left before the moment when countries which defeated fascism will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the World War II victory. Despite the fact that more than 50 years passed, memories about horrors of that war and people who were killed on the battle fields will never be erased. Flowers are still being laid on graves of soldiers both in the victor countries and the world, released from fascism. Soldiers of “Wehrmacht” and the Soviet Union organized a desperate resistance in Austro-Hungarian fights where Adolf Hitler was once born and later planned his last counteroffensive. The Hungarian city of Szombathely enjoyed the status of the strongest fortress at the time where the troop of tactical reconnaissance under the command of senior lieutenant Oraz Kusainov from Semipalatinsk forced its way among the first ones. After successful participation in the liberation of Vienna and Budapest, intelligence men of Kusainov provided strategic information and languages for the Red Forces’ attack units. This reduced losses of Soviet soldiers considerably. However, they had to fight for practically every centimeter of streets of a small Hungarian town.
Oraz Kusainov had the luck to get away from the burning hell and came back home. His family members and close ones noted an amazing resemblance between the commander of the intelligence group and a soldier who had his picture taken by a military photographer while he was carrying out his injured fellow from fire.
Magyar units defended the “Bezymyannya vysota” monument along with the “SS” battalion. It is believed that Hungary’s participation in the Second World War in favour of the Nazi happened to be under compulsion. Red Army soldiers raised the enemy fortress to the ground and crashed the enemy in hand-to-hand combat. The Szombathely city hall established a memorial monument at the place of the fierce fight.

Joe Taylor, a fan-search engine:
- During the war, liberators were of various ethnic origins and there were Kazakhs as well. We are very grateful to them for liberating the country from fascism and helping them afterwards. Old people say only good things about them and the memory of this support is still burning in their hearts.

Military burial places are referred to as the front line in Szombathely. German soldiers, Magyar officers, and Soviet fighters are divided there routinely. Kind-hearted Hungarians are providing equally thorough care after the soldiers’ burials. During the storm of the Hungarian height, about 800 Soviet soldiers and officers were killed. A great number of fighters who were buried far way from their homeland are represented by the natives of Kazakhstan.
