Kazakhstan pupils win international contest in Greece
Almaty, October 17, 2009 (Khabar) - Nursultan Nazarbayev is sure that in order to form the intellectual elite of the country it is necessary to support gifted children and today Kazakhstan has children to be proud of. Kazakhstan’s pupils are representing their country at different international contests with dignity. Recently, a team from a school in the Almalyk village of the Karasai district in the Almaty region returned from Greece. The team, which consisted of 5 members, brought several prizes back with them.
Yerlan Abitayev, 11th form pupil of school in Almalyk village of Karasai district in Almaty region:
- When we first knew that we were going to Greece, I couldn’t believe it, since we are pupils of a simple school. When we arrived in Greece and met our rivals, we didn’t expect to win.
The 9th form pupil Gyuzal Kasymova received three diplomas. She got first place in the history of inventions contest, second place in ecology and third in biology. She is planning to graduate from school with honors, enter Medical University and invent medicine to cure incurable diseases.

- When it was announced that I got first place in the first round I was confused but then I understood that I deserved it. I’ve been working very hard to get here.
Saule Makhambetova, principal of school in Almalyk village of Karasai district in Almaty region:
- At school we are trying to create conditions of free art. We are always telling our pupils that the world is very dynamic. They will be living in this world and the future policy and economy of the independent Kazakhstan is in their hands.
The teachers noted that these successes are impossible without the support of the government.
