Khalid bin Abdulla heads to Tokyo

Manama, Nov. 28(BNA): Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Second Deputy President of the International Equestrian Federation (IEF) and President of Seventh Regional Group in the IEF, participated in the General Assembly meeting of the federation, held in Tokyo. Joining Shaikh Khalid was Haider Al Zuabi, Technical Manager of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation. The meeting discussed several key subjects pertaining to updating the general regulations of the IEF, especially those concerning the equestrian sport that cover endurance races, show jumping competitions and dressage. Moreover, the attendees pondered on the possibility of giving the current veterinary regulations a face-lift, while the equestrian sport regulations for the up-coming Olympic games in Tokyo in 2020 were approved, with revised regulations to come in effect starting from January 1, 2017. Shaikh Khalid also attended the meetings of the Council and Executive Officer which were held on the sidelines of the IEF General Assembly meeting. Shaikh Khalid, also headed the meeting of the Seventh Regional Group, the agenda of which included the approval of the previous meeting which was held in Puerto Rico on November 11, 2015. The meeting also witnessed a presentation featuring the main achievements of the Arab federations during the year 2016. The meeting also discussed a new proposal for the equestrian competitions in the Olympic games and the World Equestrian Games as well as organising an Arab league for the equestrian competitions.
