Khalid bin Hamad Theater Award to start on November 12

Manama, Nov. 1 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Sager bin Salman Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Youth Centres and Authorities at the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry affirmed that the Khalid bin Hamad Theater Award for National Clubs, Youth Centers and People with Disabilities will witness an increase in the number of participants, stating that this reflects the great desire of the young Bahraini people in the Kingdom of Bahrain to serve in the field of theater.
The event is scheduled to commence on November 12 and will continue until November, announced Dr. Shaikh Sager during a press conference hosted by the Organising Committee of the event at the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry’s premises to shed light on the 2nd edition of the prestigious award.
Speaking before a gathering of journalists and representatives of the event’s sponsors, Dr. Shaikh Sager heaped praise on the efforts of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, and HH’s Media Office to make this event a success.
“Organising this event for the second time reflects Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s great attention to the field of theater and enormous support to it,” Dr. Sager highlighted, extending his heartfelt appreciation to the sponsors of the event, including Batelco, Coca Cola, Bapco, Gulf University, Al Hawaj, Majestic Cars, GPIC, Bahrain Economic Development Board, Bana Gas and Al Qasr Projects.
Shaikh Sager revealed that Gulf University is offering a new kind of sponsorship for the allocation of scholarships. Speaking on the new highlights of the event, Shaikh Sager explained: “What is new this year is that we are having disabled people on board with members from Bahrain Friendship Society for the Blind taking part.
We extended invitations to all the societies and organisations involved with people with special needs. This year’s event will feature workshops for the participants, and they will be conducted by experts in the field of theater.
“Our main aim in holding this event is to revive the national theater and to discover talents in this field,”
For his part, young Bahraini artist Al-Bassam Ali spoke in the press conference, extending his heartfelt appreciation to Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for HH’s support to the field of theater.
“This event will serve as a great platform for young artists to showcase their talents,” he said, revealing that: “I am going to try my best as a director in the event as this is my first time experiencing this role and I really look forward for it.”
Meanwhile, the Director of the Media Committee, Mr. Hazim Al Shaikh announced that the event will be met with an extensive media coverage to provide maximum exposure to the public. He pointed that the event will witness 15 plays by the participating clubs. “Judicial panels formed by experts in the field of theater will be evaluating the plays.
The award will also host musical shows to give Bahrainis the opportunity to learn more about various sides of the art field. All the plays will be recorded so the participants can review them later to evaluate their performances,” Mr. Al Shaikh said, pointing that the event will be met with extensive coverage on its social media account (hhsktheater) on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube.
