Khalid bin Hamad Theatre Award shows continue

Manama, Nov. 24 (BNA): The festival shows of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, Theatre Award for National Clubs, Youth Center and People with Disabilities continued yesterday with the ninth show "Transit" by Al Ethihad Club.
The Award is organized by the Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs in collaboration with the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, at Isa Town Cultural and Sports Club Hall, with the slogan #Painting_A_Smile. The festival is sponsored by: Tamkeen, Batelco, BANAGAS, Coca Cola, Al Hawaj, GPIC, Majestic Cars, Economic Development Board, Bapco, Palace Enterprises, Gulf University, Nissan, Yousif bin Ahmed Kanoo and Gadooa.
The play’s crew is comprised of the following: written and directed by Ishaq Abdullah, follow-up production by Abdullah Al Qattan, makeup by Shatha Al Asfoor, sound effects and music by Dhafer Ahmed.The Cast of the play is as follows: Isa Muthaffar, Abdullah Al Qattan, Hassan Juffairi, Ahmed Ali Jassim, Ahmed Al Fardan, Walid Al Marjan and Sadiq Al Ghadeer.
"Transit" was praised by the audience who filled the Isa Town Club Hall. Following the performance a review session was held cover the highs and lows of the play. Artist Adel Shams, conducted the session and answered questions of the audience.
Outstanding event
Hamza Mohammed, member of the festival's Judging Committee, said the event is outstanding.
Mohammed thanked HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his step to sponsor the award which has revived theatre. On the sidelines of his attendance to the event, Mohammed said that he was able to watch youth with various theatre talents.
"These youth need training to refine their talents," he said, and added, "We should not forget the role of the workshops in refining their abilities, as conducting workshops is very important; to develop and enhance talent."
He said that he is suggesting the idea of holding a competition to establish a theatre writing competition to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, as it will push the youth to work in this field.
Hamza Mohammed concluded his speech by stressing on the importance of conducting workshops, confirming that they have an effect in developing the artistic talents whether it’s for actors, directors, scenographer and others.
Mohammed refused to talk about the shows results saying that it's a secret of the committee and said that the results will come out in the end.
The festival is a marriage of youth and artistry
Mohammed Al Ajlan, an actor from the play "Transit", gave his thanks to HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for the sponsorship of this festival.
AL Ajlan said that this festival is a marriage of artistry that embraces the youth, expressing his joy in participation in the second edition.
He added: "The second edition has drastically improved, and it's an extension to the success achieved in the first edition."
He said that the festival supports the youth and gives an opportunity to discover talents every year, hoping that such festivals continue.
Creativity is important
Abdullah Al Qattan, an actor from the play "Transit", said that creativity is what is needed by the participants and not the focus of winning the award.
Al Qattan added after the show: "The most important thing is to deliver theatre performances that satisfy the audience and win their approval."
He pointed out that the festival is a chance to meet Bahraini youth talents in a theatre gathering.
Al Qattan thanked HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for sponsoring the festival, stressing that this sponsorship is an outstanding initiative that is reviving youth theatre for Bahrain's society.
Today's play is "Seven Day Comedy"
The shows of the festival continue today (Friday) with the tenth show, presented by Al Shakhoora Cultural and Sports Club titled "Seven Day Comedy."
The play's crew is as follows: Written by Al Abdulbabi Al Zaidie, Direction and Scenography by Abdullah Al Bakri, Assitant Direction by Hani Yaqoub, Production Management by Sayed Hashim Al Shakhoori, Photograpy and Posdter Design by Mohamed Ahmed, Makeup by Sarah Al Shayji, Sand clock design by Maysam Al Nasser and Production presidency by Ghalib Al Bana'a. The actors of the play are as followed: Hamza Al Asfoor, Aqeel Al Majid and Ahmed Sultan.
The invitation is open for everyone to attend and enjoy the shows.
