Khalifa bin Salman Award; Kailash Satyarthy Foundation for Children sign agreement

New York, Sept.26 (BNA): The Committee on Khalifa bin Salman Award for Human Settlements signed Wednesday a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) with the Kailash Satyarthy Foundation for Children during a working meeting held today in New York, USA. The agreement aims at enhancing cooperation between the two sides in the fields of knowledge exchange and dissemination while serving the objectives of sustainable development, improving the quality of human life and advocacy of the common good of humanity, especially children. The agreement was signed by Shaikh Hossam bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Head of Committee on Khalifa bin Salman Award for Human Settlements and Anjali Kochar Executive Director , KSCF. Shaikh Hossam welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Kailash Satyarthi Foundation for Children, stressing keenness of the Government under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, to strengthen cooperation and partnership with all official and non-governmental bodies and institutions to contribute to the international efforts to achieve the goals of sustainable development and to consolidate the foundations of peace and stability in the world. He underscored the importance of the memorandum of understanding in improving the status of childhood and pushing Bahrain's efforts in this field through exchanging experiences and supporting and encouraging child-oriented development policies, in a way that ensures their protection and care. On the other hand, he stressed that "HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Award for Sustainable Development" seeks to implement the objectives of sustainable development and improve the quality of human life, regardless of sex, age, race or creed, and that the promotion of different aspects of care for children is an essential pillar in the government's development strategies based on the provisions which the Kingdom's Constitution and laws provide for the protection, development and care of children in a secure and stable environment. He also commended the pioneering role played by the Kailash Satyarthi Foundation for Children in developing awareness of the importance of adopting policies to ensure inclusive development and the empowerment of children worldwide. He said he looks forward to continued efforts in building a robust partnership that would achieve both sides’ goals in the area of sustainable development. For his part, Mr. Kailash Satyarthi, President of the Kailash Satyarthy Children's Foundation, said he was delighted to have signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the General Secretariat of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Award for Sustainable Development, highlighting the importance of cooperation between the two sides to achieve their goals in terms of shared knowledge and successful practices in their respective areas of competence. “The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding reflects the interest of the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain under the chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, in support of peace and concern for development issues worldwide, he said. He praised the role played by the Kingdom of Bahrain in terms of sustainable development through its efforts aimed at the promotion of international efforts in this regard. He went on to commend the role of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa Award for Sustainable Development in supporting the UN efforts in the field of sustainable development through the promotion of outstanding projects that are closely related to improving human living conditions in all parts of the world. Kailash noted the progress made by the Kingdom of Bahrain in the provision of social care to many segments of Bahraini society. He also highlighted the progress made by the Kingdom in the area of children's rights and children's rights to protection, education and sustainable development. He expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain to promote the children’s affairs, take care of their causes and needs. He also stressed that Bahrain is a source of inspiration and a model for others in the field of protecting the rights of the child at the regional level, which make it increasingly more eligible for success in achieving sustainable development goals on child protection. The objectives of the memorandum of understanding between the two states that the Secretariat of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa Sustainable Development Award (SDA) is dedicated to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and advancing the quality of lives of human beings irrespective of gender, age, race and creed. In accordance with the MOU, the two sides agreed to collaborate towards achieving their respective goals; share knowledge and best practices in their respective areas of competences, creation of knowledge, advocacy towards the common good of mankind and sharing and dissemination of knowledge to other interested parties. They also agreed to support the implementation of any areas of collaboration including but not limited to those enumerated in the MOU. The Kailash Satyarthy Foundation for Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to giving priority to the well-being of children, including directly empowering children to defend their rights. The Kingdom of Bahrain is one of the leading countries in issuing decrees on children's rights. The Kingdom provides a legislative umbrella for children to guarantee their right to a decent life. The National Strategy for Children adopted by the Government of Bahrain represents a comprehensive vision and framework for child development. The government is also committed to support civil society institutions and the private sector to ensure the implementation of projects and plans that enable children to obtain all their rights.
