Khlalid bin Hamad directs MMA team to participate in European Championship

Manama, Mar. 27(BNA): HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth, Honourary President of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation, founder of Khalid Bin Hamad Mixed Martial Arts Organisation (KHK MMA), directed Bahrain’s Amateur Mixed Martial Arts Team to participate in the European Open Championships of Amateur MMA, hosted in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, organised by the International Federation of Mixed Martial Arts IMMAF, scheduled to begin on Wednesday, carrying on to 2nd April.
The directives of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for the team's participation in the event come in realisation of the road map drawn by his Highness for Bahrain's Mixed Martial Arts sport, thanks to the support of the wise leadership and the efforts of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, who established suitable grounds and consolidated its culture in the Bahraini sports circles, providing youth with the ideal environment to practice the sport and the opportunity to represent the Kingdom in various forums, which is reflected in Bahrain’s presence at various forums and international participations. This contributed to the accomplishment of honourable results which supported Bahrain’s reputation and stature in the sport.
The delegation headed by Colonel Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Khayat, President of the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Association, is scheduled to arrive in Bulgaria today. In this participation, the team seeks to appear in an honourable light and to add more achievements to the record of Bahrain’s MMA sport. The best results in previous editions of this championship were scored by the fighter Hussain Ayyad, who managed to reach third place in the championship hosted by Birmingham in Britain, two years ago.
The championship will witness the participation of 151 male and female fighters from 27 countries from all across the world. According to the championship’s schedule, all fighters will undergo the medical examination conducted by the Organising Committee this evening, to ensure their health and fitness. The official examination will also be conducted, from which the Committee confirms the correct weight of all fighters before the launch of the competitions.
