King Hamad Causeway to boost Bahraini-Saudi relations

Manama, Dec. 10 (BNA): Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Kamal Ahmed Mohammed has valued highly the directives of the Custodian of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to conduct a study on the King Hamad Causeway.
The new causeway will parallel King Fahad Causeway, connecting Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, and be funded by the private sector, the minister said, adding that the GCC railway will be part of the project.
In press statements on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue, Kamal bin Ahmed said that the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications is ready to work with the relevant sides in Saudi Arabia to implement the project.
The project is a new infrastructure milestone in the region, and has political, security, economic and trade and social dimensions, he said, adding that relations between the two countries will be strengthened further with the establishment of new causeway and the GCC railway.
He affirmed that the private sector will play a key role in financing the project.
