King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence Board of Trustees holds meeting

Manama, May 6 (BNA): Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence held its first periodic meeting this year under the chairmanship of Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. The board Chairman and members extended sincerest thanks and respect to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his care and support to the centre which turned it into an international beacon to promote religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence. The Board of Trustees Chairman and members, who belong to different religions and ethnicities, highly appreciated the great national efforts of Bahrain Taskforce to Combat Coronavirus (COVID-19) to ensure the health and safety of all people in Bahrain and provide them with the best healthcare and medical services without discrimination. They also hailed the initiative of the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity to hold a prayer for humanity on May 14, stressing the need to participate in this unique initiative with joint prayers, fasting and supplication by all religions and doctrines. During the meeting, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa reiterated congratulations to the centre’s Secretary General Sumaya Al Meer on the royal trust, affirming the Board of Trustees’ determination to achieve set up goals with confident steps, under the directives of HM the King to promote religious freedom for all within the framework of mutual respect, tolerance and peaceful coexistence. The meeting cast light on issues on its agenda as well as the centre’s activities over the past period and HM the King’s meetings with the Board of Trustees and their guests. The board also approved its meeting schedule for 2020. The Board of Trustees also discussed the developments of the King Hamad Faith in Leadership Fellows Programme, the financial situation of the center in 2020 and approval of the centre’s action plan 2020-2021 and its organisational structure and executive by-law. Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa emphasised the centre’s full commitment to the best innovative initiatives to consolidate the kingdom’s status and promote the role of the youth in fostering religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence worldwide.
