King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence to organize conference

Manama, Oct. 6 (BNA): The King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence announced that it will organize a conference that promotes peaceful coexistence under the theme “Ignorance is the Enemy of Peace” under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, on December 7-8, with participation from major higher education institutions regionally and internationally. The center held its first meeting under the chairmanship of the Board of Trustees Chairman of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa to discuss the objectives of the conference, the desired results and to identify the most prominent axes of the event, while reviewing the quality of local and international participations. The two-day conference will include 4 main dialogue sessions focusing on: integrating the concepts of coexistence and acceptance of difference and diversity in university curricula, the essential role of enabling educational environments in raising a generation of peace, the experience of the King Hamad Chair for Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence courses at Sapienza University and the development of religious education as a key point to promote coexistence. “We are pleased to announce the details of our new conference, which's message is based on the contents of the Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration set by HM the King, on the basis of adopting science, knowledge and education as the strongest weapon in combating violence, extremism, racism and discrimination and adopting dialogue and human love, with Bahrain being a model in guaranteeing the rights of all to worship and express in an atmosphere filled with respect for all religions," Dr. Shaikh Khalid said. “The Center and members of the executive committee will be keen to prepare a valuable program for the conference, which primarily targets all parties to the higher education, including university students, academics, teachers and experts, given our awareness of the importance of focusing on creating a generation that loves peace, dialogue, tolerance and coexistence, based on noble human values for which the Kingdom has established" He added.
