Korea ready to launch direct flights to Bishkek

Bishkek, Oct. 24, 2022. / Kabar /. Korea is ready to launch direct flights to Bishkek next year. This became known following the meeting of the heads of the foreign ministries of Kyrgyzstan and Korea, which took place on Sunday in Seoul. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the parties met on the occasion of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two republics. The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev noted with satisfaction that diplomatic relations between the countries are based on traditional friendship, spiritual and cultural closeness of the two peoples, the principles of mutual assistance and mutually beneficial cooperation. “Kyrgyzstan highly appreciates and cherishes the friendly relations and mutual understanding established between the countries. During this period, the parties have achieved great success and certain results in many areas,” Kulubaev said. He stressed that the potential for trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and South Korea has great prospects. Kyrgyzstan is interested in increasing trade between the countries, in connection with which it proposed the promotion of various priority projects through Official Development Assistance. Korean Foreign Minister Pak Chin, in turn, informed about the intention of the Korean side to launch direct flights next year. Noting the intensification of cooperation between the two countries, highlighting trade and economic cooperation. He also highly appreciated the effectiveness of the Kyrgyz-Korean intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the regular meeting of which was held on October 6, 2022. To continue the political dialogue, the parties expressed the need to continue mutual visits at the highest and high levels. The heads of the foreign ministries of the two countries also discussed issues of further development and intensification of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, in the field of healthcare and medicine, education, environment, tourism, digitalization, as well as attracting investments. The parties stressed the interest of the two countries in further strengthening bilateral ties and reaching a new level of interaction. Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the Cooperation Forum "Central Asia - Republic of Korea" and is interested in implementing joint projects through it. Following the meeting, the signing ceremony of the Program of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and Korea for 2022-2024 was held, which covers priority areas of interaction between the foreign ministries, both in bilateral and multilateral formats. At the end of the meeting, Kulubaev invited his colleague to visit Kyrgyzstan on a return official visit.
