Korean Language course to be introduced at Bahrain Polytechnic

Manama, Jan. 20 (BNA): Bahrain Polytechnic has become the third higher institution in Bahrain to offer a course in Korean language. The step comes following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the introduction of a Korean language course. It follows a cooperation agreement signed in July last year on the operation of a community course “Discover Korea” in Bahrain Polytechnic for Korean language. The success led to placing the Korean language course as an elective course in the curriculum of Bahrain Polytechnic. The MoU was signed by by Hyunmo Koo, the Korean Ambassador to Bahrain and Dr. Jeff Zabudsky, the CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic. “We are delighted to have signed an MoU with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea," William Hann, Head of Foundation School at Bahrain Polytechnic, said. "We believe this collaboration is a great opportunity for our students to discover and learn the Korean language, which is important in today’s interconnected world.” The MoU consolidates the collaborative efforts between the Korean embassy and Bahraini institutions in the education and culture fields. Ahlia University has been running a Korean community language course since 2016 and in 2017, an MoU on the operation of The King Sejong Institute was signed with the University of Bahrain, teaching the Korean language as an elective course. In December, the embassy organized a film festival that brought to Bahrain four of the best and most exciting movies produced by South Korea and covering different periods and styles. The “2019 Korea Movie Weeks” festival was held for the sixth consecutive year.
