Kuwait Speaker: Parliamentary diplomacy is modern aspect of communication to protect people’s interests

By Rasha Al Ebrahim
Manama, Oct. 21 (BNA): Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al Ghanim stressed the significance of coordinating positions and strengthening parliamentary diplomacy in line with the interests of the peoples in the Arabian Gulf and in a manner that reflects the leaders’ policy towards any issues.
“Parliamentary diplomacy must play a major role in expressing the policy of leaders in each country as well as protecting the interests of the people,” he told Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
“In the Gulf, we use parliamentary diplomacy in a way that reinforces a cooperative pattern that is reflected in continuous coordination between democratic and parliamentary entities before engaging in any discussion at the regional and international levels,” he said.
Al Ghanim was on a two-day visit to Bahrain where he met with the Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Speaker of the Council of Representatives Fawzia Zainal and heads of parliamentary committees.
The Kuwaiti Speaker praised the depth of the historical relations between Bahrain and Kuwait and pointed out to the distinguished role played by Bahrain’s Speaker in strengthening coordination and cooperation between the Bahraini Parliament and the Kuwaiti National Assembly.
He also praised the remarkable performance of the Council of Representatives during Zainal’s term as Speaker.
The distinguished relations between Bahrain and Kuwait are characterized by their historical depth and their strength at all levels that have regularly demonstrated the robust unity between the two countries, he added.
“Our cooperation will keep expanding and will get only stronger and better,” Al Ghanim said.
