Kyrgyzstan delegation briefed on Bahrain’s medicine supply chain tracking

Manama, Dec. 25 (BNA): The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) has received an official delegation from Kyrgyzstan that included advisors to the President.
The delegation is in Bahrain to gain insights into the Kingdom's experience in implementing the electronic system for tracking the supply chain of medicines.
NHRA CEO Dr. Maryam Al Jalahma, reviewed with the senior advisor for digital transformation and economic reforms, Professor Saberbek Djumabekov, health care advisor, head of the Kyrgyz Republic Central Hospital, orthopedic specialist, and the former Minister of Health, the mechanisms of drug registration and the NHRA’s application of drug tracking.
Dr. Al Jalahma explained the course of action in implementing the comprehensive electronic system to track the supply of the drug from its production in the factory until it reaches the patient in a way that ensures that counterfeit drugs do not enter Bahrain.
The tracking is also used to ensure that the drug is dispensed according to the procedures, she said.
It also allows retail pharmacies and hospitals to scan products before they are dispensed to verify the database that will improve patient safety by reducing medical errors and improving the accuracy of pharmacy operations.
