Kyrgyzstan ratifies agreements on allocation of $ 32.9 mln by ADB for development of water supply in Naryn Oblast

Bishkek, July 7, 2020 / Kabar /. President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov signed the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Ratification of the Credit Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Asian Development Bank (Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program in Naryn Oblast), signed on Dec. 25, 2019 in Bishkek, and the Grant Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and ADB (Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Development Program in Naryn Oblast), signed on Dec. 25, 2019 in Bishkek. The law was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on June 11, 2020. The press service said that in accordance with this Law, the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic is required to notify ADB in the prescribed manner of the implementation of the internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the above Agreements by the Kyrgyz Republic. The law shall enter into force ten days after the date of its official publication. The aim of the Program is to ensure the improvement of the state of the water supply and sanitation system in the villages of Naryn Oblast, as well as solving priority tasks for the further development of the water sector in the republic. A loan from the Asian Development Bank is granted for a period of 32 years, including 8 years of grace period, with an interest rate of 1% per year for the deferral period and 1.5% for each subsequent year. Project implementation period is 6 years.
