Labour Minister heads Bahrain's delegation to CRC meeting

Geneva, Jan. 19 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister Jamil bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, the Head of the National Childhood Committee, presided Bahrain’s delegation to the 80th session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC), in Geneva, to review the kingdom’s achievements in protecting the children’s rights. The delegation comprises senior officials from ministries and government bodies concerned with child rights, including the Foreign Ministry, the Interior Ministry, the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry, the Supreme Council for Women, the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission and the Labour and Social Development Ministry. Assistant Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabr Al Dosari and Head of the Bahraini Diplomatic Mission to Geneva Dr. Yusef Abdulkarim Bujeri also attended the meetings held from January 18 to 21 at the committee’s headquarters in Geneva. The 80th session is part of the periodic annual meetings held by the Committee on the Rights of the Child to discuss the periodic reports of the member states that ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The international committee included in its programme this year two sessions to review the kingdom’s report which highlights all information and procedures taken to foster the rights of the children.
