Labour Minister meets NIHR president

Manama, Feb.15 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan received National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) President Maria Khoury. The meeting was attended by NIHR Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee chairman Dr. Hameed Ahmed Hussein, Bahrain Autism Society chairman Zakaria Hashem and Wahb Al-Showekh, representative of families of autistic children. The meeting focused on the ministry’s drive to protect the rights of all social categories and provide care and rehabilitation to individuals and families, especially people with special needs, physical disabilities, the elderly and need people. The meeting also highlighted the recent report which acknowledged Bahrain strides in taking required legislative and executive measures to protect child rights in the Kingdom. Humaidan hailed the NIHR-led efforts and cooperation, paying tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and to the Government of Bahrain, for their their support and keenness on protecting citizens and residents’ rights. NIHR chief commended the services, initiatives and programmes provided by the ministry for Bahraini workers and all other social categories, stressing the importance of cooperation to further promote rights and decent living standards in the prosperous era.
