Labour Minister receives US Ambassador

Manama, Mar. 15 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, received here today the US Ambassador to Bahrain, Justin Hicks Siberell. They discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two friendly countries in all fields, especially the labour and development ones, in a ways that serves joint interests. They also reviewed the latest developments of the global economy. The minister stressed the importance of exchanging expertise in the fields of labour systems and social protection. Humaidan asserted that the Government of Bahrain constantly develops its national laws and legislation related to labour and development, commensurate with the international labour conventions and standards, particularly regarding the preservation of labour laws, trade union freedoms, the provision of decent work for the citizens, securing safe work environment and increasing productivity. US Ambassador affirmed the depth of the solid deep-rooted bilateral relations, stressing the importance of opening up wider horizons of joint action and coordination. Ambassador Siberell praised Bahrain’s developed systems and legislation that guarantee workers’ rights and protection, in line with international standards, praising the on-going social dialogue among the production parties in the Kingdom
