Labour Minister receives US Ambassador

Manama, Sept. 9 (BNA): Labour Minister and Board of Directors Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, received the US Ambassador to Bahrain, Steven C. Bondy, with whom he discussed ways to enhance the existing cooperation relations between the two friendly countries, especially in the labour fields. The minister reviewed the projects and initiatives implemented by the kingdom within its Economic Recovery Plan to consolidate the stability of the labour market and generate more job opportunities. He also highlighted the ongoing procedures to ensure a healthy and adequate labour environment for the national and expatriate workforce alike, in addition to the kingdom’s efforts to promote workers’ rights, in accordance with international labour standards, as well as eliminate all forms of discrimination and trafficking in persons. The US Ambassador praised Bahrain’s success in maintaining its Tier 1 Status in the US State Department's 2022 report on Trafficking in Persons for the fifth consecutive year, which reflects Bahrain’s successive remarkable achievements regarding its pioneering labour market experience. He affirmed his country’s keenness to develop its long-standing relations and cooperation with the kingdom.
