Laos, Vietnam cooperate in hydropower development

VIENTIANE,JAN 12. 2012(KPL)- Laos and Vietnam will cooperate in developing the Nam Leng hydropower project in Laos ’ northern province of Phongsaly. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the study and development of the project in an 18-month period was signed between the two sides in Vientiane on Jan. 10. Speaking at the signing ceremony, a representative of Vietnam ’s VC Invest Company, which joins the implementation of the project, said this is a good chance for Vietnamese businesses to expand their investment activities in Laos , contributing to the country’s energy development. He affirmed that the company will try its best to ensure the progress of the project, helping foster the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
