Largest sea survey operation in Bahrain carried out

Manama, Oct. 18 (BNA): Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB) President Shaikh Salman bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al-Khalifa today received a delegation from the US Navy led by Kerry Legendary marking the completion of the sea survey operations in the northern area of the Kingdom of Bahrain, which was implemented in cooperation between Bahrain and US Navy. The sea surveying project is the largest of its kind carried out in Bahrain, which targeted the delineation of marine shipping lanes, depths of the sea and the nature of seabed. A detailed presentation of the data and sites surveyed was given. SLRB President said that the available data will contribute to securing the shipping lanes, as well as providing updated information for the implementation of the strategic plan. He noted about 80% of Bahrain's exports and imports are carried out by sea, in addition it is a majour food source for many Bahraini families. He added that the project is in implementation of the government policies designed to achieve Bahrain Vision 2030, pointing out the adoption of the principle of partnership and cooperation among several government agencies, including Bahrain Defence Force, Interior Ministry and Transportation Ministry. He noted that the cooperation has contributed to saving approximately $6 million for the public budget.
