CHIANG RAI, Jan 9 (TNA) -- Relatives, people and officials in the northern province of Chiang Rai made merits in remembrance of late arts teacher Juling Pongkanmun who succumbed to severe wounds after being tortured while on her duty in the deep South over a decade ago. The activity took place at Doi Luang Kindergarten in Doi Luang district in the northernmost province. The kindergarten houses an art gallery honouring Juling, a Doi Luang native, who died after being abducted and assaulted while on duty at Kujing Luepa School in the southern border province of Narathiwat on May 19, 2006. Participating in the activity that included alms-giving to Buddhist monks were Doi Luang district chief Sujit Suchart, Juling’s parents Soon and Khammee, local teachers, students, police, soldiers and local residents.
