At least 18 killed in bus crash in Korat
NAKHON RATCHASIMA, March 21 (TNA) - At least 18 people and about 30 were injured in a bus clash in Wang Nam Khieo in Korat or Nakhon Ratchasima on Wednesday night.
Head of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation office in Nakhon Ratchasima, Suthep Ruenthawin said the victims were rescued from the wrecked bus. The injured were sent to three nearby hospitals.
The chartered bus carried passengers from Kalasin on a trip to the seaside province in Chanthaburi. The accident occurred at a downhill curve on the way back on Ratchaima –Kabinburi Road when the bus lost control and travelled across the road island, hitting trees and roadside stalls.
Nakhon Ratchasima Governor Wichian Chantharanothai visited the injured at hospital. He said the road at the scene is in good condition but it is downhill winding road and the driver might not get used to the route.
Initially, it is believed that the accident may be caused by malfunctioned brake system. (TNA)
