Lebanese Cypriot Business Council honors Ambassador Rafti

NNA - The Lebanese-Cypriot Business Council, chaired by George Shahwan, hosted on Monday a lunch banquet upon its 100th foundation anniversary, in honor of Cypriot Ambassador to Lebanon, Christina Rafti, at Phoenicia Hotel, Beirut. The event was attended by Head of Lebanese Chambers Union Mohammad Shoucair, National News Agency Director Laure Sleiman, Head of the Social-Economic Council Roger Nasnas, alongside a panel of businessman and public figures. In a word delivered upon the occasion, Shahwan indicated that the goal of the Lebanese-Cypriot Business Council's foundation was to help the Lebanese businessmen seeking to invest in Cypriot markets. "Both countries are tied with cooperation relations," he said. He also explained that the Council aimed to develop trade between Lebanon and Cyprus as well as to establish economic, industrial, and commercial ties between the two countries. For her part, Ambassador Rafti hailed the efforts exerted by the Council with the purpose of bolstering the bilateral economic ties, stressing that both countries share business interest in several economic fields, especially the oil sector. She also called for boosting relations on the level of tourism. She lastly congratulated the Lebanese people on the election of a president of the republic and the formation of the government.
