Legislative branch condemns Turkish interference in Libya

Manama, Jan. 6(BNA):The legislative branch backed Bahrain’s official stance condemning the Turkish decision to send military forces to Libya, describing the move a blatant interference in the internal affairs of an Arab country. The weekly cabinet meeting, which convened today, denounced the Turkish decision, as it constitutes a clear threat to Arab national security, regional stability, as well as being a flagrant violation of international resolutions and conventions, in addition to the stance, which was taken by the Arab League on the 31st of December 2019. The Shura Council and Council of Representatives urged the international community to stop this dangerous development, assume its role and responsibilities and undertake urgent steps to support efforts aimed at combating terrorism and deterring all terrorist organizations in Libya. They expressed the hope that security and stability prevail in Libya, stressing the need to implement the Skhirat agreement so that Libya could tackle challenges and carry out development plans and reinstate the national state and its institutions. They lauded Bahrain’s unwavering stance in support of regional security and stability, and its strenuous efforts, in cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries to combat terrorism, violence and extremism.
