Legislative cooperation with IPU praised

Manama, June 30 (BNA): Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh praised constructive cooperation of the legislative branch in Bahrain with the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU) to unify stances on issues of common interest. He stressed that those strong parliamentary relations have boosted legislative work for the best interest of the nation and citizens. In a statement marking the 130th anniversary of IPU, the Shura Council Chairman asserted keenness on exchanging experiences with various parliaments and legislative councils on the basis of the policy of openness and building strong and fruitful relations. He congratulated IPU President Gabriela Cuevas Barron and the union members on the 130th anniversary of IPU which was set up on June 30th, 1889. He also underlined the vital role played by IPU in supporting the legislative councils and parliaments all over the world and mapping out plan for the best parliamentary practices. He pointed out the Shura Council’s keenness to represent Bahrain at international parliamentary gatherings, mainly IPU’s periodic meetings, to highlight Bahrain’s achievements under the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
