Libyan Officials: Iran's kidnapped Red Crescent Workers In Good Health

Tehran, Aug 1, IRNA – The kidnapped workers of Iran's Red Crescent Society (IRCS) in Libya are in good health, director of the IRCS' public relations department Pooya Hajian said Wednesday quoting Libyan Red Crescent officials. Seven IRCS workers who were in Libya at an official invitation of the Libyan Red Crescent were kidnapped by unknown gunmen in the city of Benghazi on Tuesday and transferred to an unknown place. They were in Libya to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on promotion of bilateral cooperation and humanitarian activities. "According to local officials, the abducted workers are in good health," Hajian told IRNA, adding that Tehran has called for their immediate release by sending an official letter to the Libyan officials. Moreover, the IRCS has urged the kidnappers to release the abducted Iranians as a sign of appreciation for Iran's assistance and support for the Libyan nation. Hajian said that Iran's Embassy in Libya is following up the case closely./end
