Lithuanian artists preparing for installation show in Tehran

TEHRAN,April 24(MNA) -- The Saba Art and Cultural Institute will host an exhibition of installation art by three Lithuanian artists. Installations by Ignas Kazakevicius Brone Neverdauskiene and Monika Zaltauskaite-Grasiene will go on display during a one-month exhibition that begins May 1. They have been invited to Iran by the Iranian Academy of Arts (IAA), Iranian artist Hojjat Amani mentioned in a press release. The project is comprised of different independent parts and “Total equality” is one of the most important installations, he added. They used techniques of woven handicrafts in their artwork, he described their artwork. Installation “Total equality” examines the sphere of influence of the equality stereotype, and evaluates the artists’ own experience resulting from the collision of the “democratic” values with the reality of life. The juxtaposition of the body of an old person and children’s clothing is supposed to draw attention to the fact that the effective “imprisonment” of the stigmatized leaves them in need of self-identity, as the individual is cast out of the “normal” world.
