Local news editor warned of distorted report on attack at hospital in Narathiwawt
YALA, March 18 (TNA) -- Col Pramote Phrom-in, spokesman of the Internal Security Operations Command's southern forward command, told the press on Friday that the military would convene the editor of a local news agency for a discussion after it reported online that the incident at the Cho Airong hospital in Narathiwat on March 13 was a set-up by authorities.
Security authorities located their bases carefully to protect general people, public service facilities and the offices of governmental organisations and state enterprises but some parties were pressuring the government to move security bases away from soft targets in the way that would facilitate militants' attacks against innocent people, Col Pramote said.
The spokesman explained that on March 13 militants broke into the Cho Airong hospital and used it as their base to attack a nearby base of paramilitary rangers and their inhumane tactic drew condemnation from organisations.
Col Pramote said that militants had attacked government officials, innocent people, and government and state enterprise offices for 12 years while the government had tried seriously to protect people and enforce laws against culprits. (TNA)
