London Artspace to host exhibition of Iranian artist

TEHRAN,June 26(MNA) – The Iranian artist Samira Alikhanzadeh will put a collection of her works on display in an exhibition, which is scheduled to open at the Artspace Gallery in London today. Entitled “Talking in Silence”, the exhibition includes a combination of photos and paintings with a nostalgic look back at the past few decades. The exhibit runs until July 28. Last year, Alikhanzadeh held the same exhibit in Tehran’s Asar Gallery. “Seeing the photographs in the old albums always made me feel quite nostalgic”, she had once said about her works. “I have been busy with these photos for a long time. They take me to the time where the days were once new; and the mirrors helped me enter the world of those portraits in the photos,” she had noted. Alikhanzadeh had previously attended several group exhibits in Europe and the Middle East. Her works have also found ways into world auctions of Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Bonham’s several times. Her untitled artwork was sold at Bonham’s auction in Dubai in 2008 fetching $24,000.
