"M-Help Me" online traffic application launched in Bangkok
BANGKOK, February 26 (TNA) - Thailand's Metropolitan Police Bureau, in cooperation with the private sector, has launched an application on real time traffic information, dubbed “M-Help Me”, that is accessible to users of smart phones around the clock, the first of its kind in the world.
Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief Police Major General Jirasan Kaewsaeng-ek told journalists on Tuesday that the newly-launched application is aimed to provide people with comprehensive traffic information in Bangkok, namely areas with heavy and mild traffic through an official traffic map and the Metropolitan Police Bureau's close circuit television (CCTV) system.
Besides, users of the online "M-Help Me" application will be alert with or can report on traffic accidents, incidents and tip-offs that will be assisted by metropolitan police in areas of the scenes.
Meanwhile, Prasit Jeawkok, who runs a project on contributing good deeds to the motherland, said his project has adopted advanced technologies to develop the online application to be accessible, free of charges, to both users of the IOS and Android systems with a hope to help ease the problem of traffic congestion in the capital within six months.
Prasit projected that the online "M-Help Me" application will be used by at least 20 million people, inviting the public to participate in the voluntary initiative by also providing useful street information.
The online "M-Help Me" application has been jointly launched by the Metropolitan Police Bureau, the Business of Services and Combination Products Trade Association and
Prasit's project. (TNA)
