MACC Chief Pays Courtesy Call On Indonesian Counterpart

KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad paid a courtesy call on Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Jakarta Wednesday. MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operations) Azam Baki who was also part of the delegation was greeted by KPK chief Agus Rahardjo as well as deputy commissioners. The MACC in a statement said the two commissions discussed bilateral cooperation in terms of exchange of information on investigations, operations and training. "As an agency responsible for combating corruption and abuse of power, the MACC always lends its support to the KPK in carrying out their responsibilities. We are also ready to provide assistance to the KPK to ensure Indonesia is free from the threat of corruption and abuse of power," the statement said. According to the statement, the visit will also send a message to Malaysians and Indonesians that both enforcement agencies are very serious about fighting corruption and abuse of power. In the meantime, the MACC also invited the KPK to visit Malaysia to celebrate the commission’s 50th anniversary on Oct 1. -- BERNAMA
