Madagascar FM: Doha s Declaration Enhances International Commitment to Women's Rights

Doha , February 14 (QNA) - Madagascar Foreign Minister Pierrot Jocelyn Rajaonarivelo has stressed that Doha s hosting of the third ministerial meeting of NAM (Non -Aligned Movement) countries ,on women advancement offered the participanting countries the ample opportunity to discuss means of strengthening the notion of gender equality and women empowerment in various fields to supports the complete interactive participation of women in their societies. In an exclusive press statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) Tuesday Pierrot Rajaonnarivelo said that the Doha declaration will contribute to the enhancing process of the international commitment to women Rights in accordance with its aspiring action plan to found and bolster institutional strategies on both the local and national level in addition to using the essential procedures to strengthen the notion of Gender equality, women empowerment, achieving global education, guaranteeing equal participation in the decision- making process on all levels, and fighting violence against women. HE Pierrot Jocelyn Rajaonarivelo added that the Doha meeting enabled the participanting countries to confer on the suitable strategies of developing women's participation and their representation in all sectors as well as reviewing the laws and national legislations' list with what goes in line with the millennium s developmental goals. He expressed deep appreciation to the leading Qatari experience in the field of developing and empowering women and the keenness of Qatar to implement a number of aspiring strategies and programmes to achieve gender equality and women empowerment. Speaking of his country s experience in terms of improving women's role, Pierrot told QNA that the Madagascar government nearly ratified all the international treaties concerning women situation and that it is in the stage of implementing a number of aspiring national programmes to achieve the principles of improving women's role and their empowerment in different sectors. It is worth mentioning that Madagascar Foreign Minister Pierrot Jocelyn Rajaonarivelo gave his press statement to QNA on the margins of the third ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement on the Advancement of Women currently in session in Doha.
