Mahmud Zenderudi to donate collage-paintings to Tehran museum
TEHRAN,April 17(MNA) -- Artist Mahmud Zenderudi will donate eight collage-paintings inspired by “Haft Paykar” (The Seven Beauties) by Persian poet Nezami to the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA).
In a meeting with the head of TMCA Mahmud Shaluii, Zenderudi said that he plans to donate eight collage-paintings to the museum.
The collage-paintings depict parts of the life story of the Sassanid king Bahram Gur (reigned 420–438) based on “Haft Paykar”, which was composed by Nezami (c. 1141-1209), romantic epic poet in Persian literature.
“The Story of the Resident of the Black Pavilion”, “The Story of the Resident of the Yellow Pavilion”, “The Story of the Resident of the Green Pavilion”, “The Story of the Resident of the Red Pavilion”, “The Story of the Resident of the Turquoise Pavilion”, “The Story of the Resident of the Sandalwood Pavilion” and “The Story of the Resident of the White Pavilion” are chapters of the book.
The artworks are now kept in a Galerie du Palais in Monteux, Switzerland as well as his personal atelier in Montpellier city in France.
Zenderudi has lived in France since 30 years ago. His works mostly focus on Persian culture and literature.
Zenderudi, 74, is the co-founder of Saqakhaneh school of painting during the early years of his artistic activities before leaving Iran. He has received a first prize from the Paris and Venice Biennials and honorary mention at the Sao Paulo Biennial.
He has participated in 24 group exhibitions and has held 44 solo exhibitions nearly throughout the world with five permanent exhibitions in France, Germany and Switzerland.
