Malaysia Accepted As Provisional Signatory of Sydney, Dublin Accords
KUCHING (Sarawak, Malaysia), July 5 (Bernama) -- Malaysia was accepted as Provisional Signatory of the Sydney Accord and Dublin Accord recently, said Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) president Roslan Md Taha.
He said the decision was made at the International Engineering Alliance Meeting in Alaska on June 21.
He noted that by signing the Sydney Accord and Dublin Accord, Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission (ETAC)-accredited engineering courses will be recognised as equivalent to engineering programmes from other Sydney Accord and Dublin Accord member countries.
Roslan said in line with international standards, BEM had put in an application to become a Signatory of the Sydney Accord (for engineering technologist programme)s and Dublin Accord (for engineering technician programmes) in 2016.
“This achievement is an important milestone for the Malaysian engineering profession as Malaysia is set to become a global education hub,” Roslan said.
He said this in his welcoming speech at the BEM Roadshow 2017 that was officiated by Sarawak Chief Minister Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg here Tuesday.
