Malaysia: Bernama's "Jelajah 1jiwa" Brings Cheers To Veterans In Kelantan

KOTA BHARU (Kelantan, Malaysia), July 12 (Bernama) -- The arrival of the Malaysian National news Agency, Bernama’s Jelajah 1Jiwa convoy brought cheers to four veterans of the agency who had been waiting for the arrival of the motorcyclists at the Kelantan (Malaysia's northeastern state) Bernama Bureau Office here Tuesday. They are Wan Azmi Che Jafaar, 57, a former administrative staff at the office; former stringers Hanapi Mat, 62, and Md Nasir Rani, 63, and Wan Muhammad Wan Adam, 70, who is still stringing for the agency. The convoy of 25 motorcyclists on 15 high-powered motorcycles, accompanied by four cars, left Bernama headquarters in Kuala Lumpur last Saturday and was in Kangar earlier Tuesday before arriving at the Kelantan Bernama Bureau Office here about 8 pm. Present to welcome the convoy here were Kelantan Bernama Bureau chief, Mohamad Bakri Darus, and its staff. The convoy is on a mission to meet and present contributions to Bernama veterans nationwide, apart from informing the public on Bernama’s actual role in its reporting of domestic and foreign issues for the interest of Malaysians. Wan Azmi said the programme could foster closer relations between the agency’s staff at the headquarters and state offices, especially veterans. "I am grateful and feel proud to know that I’m still being appreciated despite having retired from Bernama two years ago,” he said. Hanapi, who had a stroke attack about three years ago, said the programme gave him the opportunity to meet his old colleagues from the headquarters. He was a part-time cameraman with Bernama TV (now known as Bernama News Channel) from 1997 until 2014. Meanwhile, Chef De Mission Amrizan Madian said the expedition was organised with the cooperation of Benelli Bikers Club and Mforce Bike Holdings Sdn Bhd. The convoy left this morning to Terengganu (Malaysia's east coast), and then to Pahang (Malaysia's east coast), Johor (southern Malaysia), Melaka (southern Malaysia) and Negeri Sembilan (Malaysia's southwestern coast) before going back to Kuala Lumpur.
